ARTIST BIO

Hello, I'm Jimmy!

I'm a Northern theatre maker, performance artist and facilitator working in London.

I am currently Associate Director at The Yard on their reboot production of The Flea. I am also overseeing a series of trans led creative workshops born from my recent play; Metamorphoses (an original adaptation of the Ovidian classic), which debuted for a 3 week run at The Cockpit earlier this year.

I will be giving talks at symposiums run by Oxford University Classics Department and Royal Holloway about my work in adapting epic poetry into dramatic form for trans communities this year, as well as being the subject of several upcoming academic journal articles in the field.

Across my career, I have independently created and produced several immersive theatrical shows with the performance collective HalliGalli, including a successful Edinburgh Fringe run at The Tolbooth Market in 2018. As co-creator of F-CLUB, a collective of queer Northern cabaret artists, I have produced events attended by artists from all over the world, including Taiwan, Malaysia, Canada, U.S.A. Canada and performed live at international events including Seztkasten Wien collective (Austria) and in danceswithcircles collective’s cabaret (America). My performance art work has been exhibited twice at Leeds Arts Gallery (A-Z (2018), Sonic Bodies (2019)).

As a creative producer and events organiser at Open Source Arts centre in Leeds, I have developed and produced a programme of PAYF theatre shows using local council and cultural recovery funding that were professionally filmed and broadcast to international audiences during the COVID-19 pandemic under the collective moniker of the Affordable Theatre Programme.

Politically and aesthetically, I'm hugely guided by my work in DIY, grassroots and alternative performance spaces and formalities. Be it live art, cabaret or experimental music - I think the future of theatre is in its embrace of performative forms from outside those we typically find within institutional settings.

Through my work, I aim to find different formalities for performance to exist in, put social justice at the forefront of decision making and create autonomous spaces through performance.
